More details about SALON VIP Preview Night - June 24th

In our last email we told you about SALON, our VIP Preview evening aimed at creating an intimate interaction between you and some of Canada's biggest gallery owners, collectors, creative firms, and media.

We've created stunning invitations, designed by Working Format, our design partner this year. In the next few days we will have mailed out close to 700 invites. We've spent weeks building our mailing list to include distinguished people, galleries and organizations from Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, Toronto and New York.

At SALON, all participating artists will be distinguished with a pin in order to promote interaction. We ask you to be on hand for interviews and to field questions that attendees may have about your work. This is your time to connect with people, you will find it beneficial to you stand near your work and speak with people that express interest. Making a personal connection with a patron is the most powerful tool you can have when it comes to selling work.

We suggest having business cards on hand and a website/blog in order to promote your work.

The Cheaper Show does not take commission on any sales that are instigated at our events, and will also take care to pass along any interest we hear about to you to follow up with.

Your artwork will not be for sale this evening, nor will it be numbered until the day of The Cheaper Show so as not to give anyone the advantage of purchasing without seeking out the number of the piece at our live event.

In order to keep a strong focus on connectivity and to keep our numbers smaller, we are not allowing artists to bring guests.

Details about the main event - guest list, buying art and more

Of course we've had many many questions and we'll do our best to answer them here.

GUEST LIST
We are allowing each artist to have two guest list spots. With 150 local artists, we need to keep this number limited. Guests will be permitted to skip the line-up and enter through the VIP door, but WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE ART. Please understand that we are working very hard to make it fair for the hundreds and thousands of attendees that wait in line hours for a chance to purchase your art.

You must email your guest list names to us by June 21st. Email us your name along with your two guests to — guestlist@thecheapershow.com

BUYING ART
Again, for the sake of all our visitors, participating artists will not be permitted to by artwork. This rule is in effect for all of our staff, volunteers, and VIP guests. If you are interested in purchasing art, please find a friend that is willing to wait in line for you.

We appreciate your understanding with these new policies. With thousands of people coming to the show, it is important for us to make it accessible and fair for everyone!

Media opportunities - local artists who speak french or asian languages

Our publicist has asked us to seek out any french speaking artists that will be in Vancouver around the date of the show for in-studio radio interviews. This is a great opportunity for you to gain some exposure for yourself as well as help share the story of The Cheaper Show outside of our english speaking communities.

Our publicist has also asked about local Chinese or other asian language speaking artists. There are many local outlets that would love to do a story on you and the show.

Please contact us asap if you're interested — no9artists@thecheapershow.com — and we'll pass you on to our publicist, Helen Yagi.

Media opportunities - local and international artists

This year, we're working with a new organization, ArtLive.Tv founded by Patt Léger, who will be doing a live webcast of all three nights of the show.

Patt is interested in capturing some short interviews for the piece, which will be cut in to the live feed. It would be very cool to have some of you who can't be at the show to be a part of this.

For artists in Vancouver, she would like to arrange a time to come meet you and ask you a few quick questions for the live braodcast.

For international artists, there are opportunities to do web interviews both in advance and live during the show via Skype. It's a great way to participate even if you can't be here in person.

After the event, all of the live and pre-recorded footage will be edited video piece that will live online and in the ArtLive.tv archives. A copy will be made available for all participants.

If this is of interest to you, please contact Patt ASAP to make arrangements — patt@artlive.tv

Regardless if you're interested in being interviewed, if you're out of town, this will be a great way to check out the event live as it happens! It will be available via a link on our website.
